VIJAYAWADA: The State government on Saturday issued orders constituting several Agriculture Market Committees (AMCs).
The constitution of Agriculture Market Committee of Gannavaram sprang a surprise and shock to the Jana Sena Party cadre as the chairman post was initially allotted to JSP leader Garikipati Sivashankar.
However, with Gannavaram TDP MLA Yarlagadda Venkata Rao expressed his displeasure over the allotment of the AMC chairman post to a JSP leader, insisted that the post should be given to a TDP leader.
The MLA had succeeded in his attempt as the government issued orders nominating TDP leader Gudavalli Narasimha Rao as the Gannavaram AMC Chairman.
This development irked the JSP cadre. Sources in the JSP say that the TDP violated the coalition dharma. Stating that Garikipati is a key person in the JSP, and he was chosen for the Gannavaram AMC chairman post because of the recommendation from the party top leaders. The JSP cadre alleged that the TDP MLA pressurised his party leadership, and succeeded in getting the person of his choice as the Chairman of Gannavaram AMC.
